As part of the participation of Santa Casa da Misericórdia de Lisboa (SCML) at the Web Summit event, which will be held in Lisbon from 6 to 9 November 2017, the digital social innovation competition “Santa Casa Challenge – 2017 Edition“ is launched.
The technological development in the areas of intervention of SCML is an ongoing process within this secular institution that will lead to relevant gains in the pursuit of its goals. It is important, therefore, to stimulate technology-based social entrepreneurship and to value the potential of social innovation, in order to respond to current societal challenges, as well as to create opportunities to bring together entrepreneurs and social start-ups from large specialised forums such as the Web Summit.
This Digital Social Innovation Competition is an instrument that allows Santa Casa to find innovative solutions for its different areas of intervention that contribute to improve the quality of life and well-being of people.
WHAT IS IT?
It is a digital social innovation competition because it seeks innovative solutions that explore the effects of new technologies and the potential of networking the Internet to solve social problems or needs. Digital social innovation is a creative and collaborative process in which specialists from different fields, users and communities participate in the development of innovative solutions. These solutions may be the result of new ideas or stem from the application of existing ideas in Santa Casa’s areas of intervention and include:
Technological devices and hardware (supporting products, apparatus, accessories);
Platforms, networks, digital content (online);
Information management systems and tools;
Educational or recreational games and gamification (application of game techniques to the real world);
Other information and communication technologies.
The products or services may already be developed or still under development, but cannot have been marketed or made available on the market.
This Competition aims to:
Stimulate digital social innovation and technology-based social entrepreneurship, as tools to modernise SCML;
Create or improve the products and services provided by SCML to the population, in the aforementioned areas of intervention.
HOW TO PARTICIPATE?
The innovative technological solution with the highest score in each of the five SCML intervention areas will be allocated:
Cash prize of €5,000 (five thousand Euros)
“Alpha Package” Web Summit 2018
Possibility of developing a pilot project in the equipment or services of SCML or others indicated by SCML.
